A Very Chico Nutcracker
Chico’s Most Enchanting Holiday Tradition Returns —
with a Twist of Local Magic!
A Very Chico Nutcracker pirouettes back to the stage, bringing a homegrown sparkle to the beloved holiday classic. This beautifully danced production by Chico Community Ballet honors the timeless tradition of The Nutcracker—with a whimsical twist inspired by Chico’s rich history and charm.
Set on a dreamy Christmas Eve in the historic home of Dr. Oscar Stansbury, the story follows young Angeline as she receives a mysterious gift that sets a fantastical adventure in motion. As the Christmas tree soars and the Nutcracker battles the mischievous Mouse King, the stage comes alive with twirling almond blossoms, buzzing bees, and holiday enchantment. Angeline is swept into a magical world—and so is the audience.
From the whimsy of waltzing wildflowers to colorful visitors from distant lands, each scene blends Tchaikovsky’s beloved score with delightful surprises and local flair. This is more than a ballet—it’s a heartfelt love letter to Chico, wrapped in tradition, imagination, and festive wonder.
Presented by Chico Community Ballet in partnership with Chico Performances, and with support from the Stansbury Home Preservation Association, this original production is a magical holiday adventure for all ages.
